What Are Your Plans To Save On Utility Bills This Summer?

We all complain when it is time to pay summer utility bills here in the Phoenix Metro Area.  On the flipside… We all love our mild fall days and nights.  We brag to everyone who will listen about our fantastic winter weather. Our spring time barbeques are legendary here in the Valley of the Sun.

Folks from all over visit or spend full time here during the winter and early spring.  They send photos home of swimming (comfortably) in March while their family and friends are still shoveling snow back home.

But many of those folks snicker at us when it comes time for high heels to sink into the asphalt.  Yes, it gets very hot (sorry Chamber of Commerce for use of the “Hot” word) for sixty to one-hundred plus days during the summer.

We all dread the utility bills during the summer.

But… What Are Your Plans To Save On Utility Bills This Summer? You are planning to do something positive to lower your utility bills, aren’t you?

You can do something positive about those pesky utility bills.  Are you looking for some examples? We aren’t talking about just raising the thermostat to a higher setting and suffering from the heat. That never seems like a great idea to us. We know you want your home to be a comfortable place to get into and out of the Arizona summer heat.

Have you installed a new energy saving smart thermostat yet? Have you upgraded your attic insulation?  Have you added an efficient ridge vent or powered attic fans? Have you installed heat blocking energy efficient windows?  Have you planted shade trees under the SRP and APS tree programs? Have you had an energy audit from you utility company?  That could pin point where and what needs to be repaired (replaced) to help save money on energy bills.  It may seem strange but your utility company really wants to help you spend less on electricity.  As the Valley of the Sun grows they need to spend huge amounts of money to buy more electricity or build even bigger power plants.

Have you had or plan to have your Air Conditioner tuned-up BEFORE this coming summer heating season?

Have you considered or do you plan to consider replacing your current AC or HVAC unit with a newer and far more efficient air conditioner system? This will result in a lower utility bill now and for many years to come.

A new AC unit with a high S.E.E.R. rating sure sounds like a plan to us.
