We Celebrate Green Everyday, Not Just St. Paddy’s Day

Well, first let me take a moment to say Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all of our Irish friends. And isn’t everybody just a little bit Irish when it comes to St. Paddy’s day? All over the country people are marching in parades (or have already done that this past weekend), dying the river green and visiting their local pub to lift a pint (or two) of Guinness Stout. When you got dressed today did you take time to pick something green or add a pin or Shamrock to your collar?

With our rain from a few weeks ago and our delightfully warm weather the Valley of the Sun is very green right now. If you have seen the National Weather Service forecast for the next few days we may very well call it warm with temperatures running from the mid-eighties (86 today March 17th, 2014) and for most of the coming week.

You do know that mid-eighties is a very warm summer day in the most of the rest of the country? From what I read this morning the Denver area will be ten degrees above normal today at just sixty-six degrees.  That temperature will feel very warn to them and we are twenty degrees above them and that twenty degree spread is very normal for us during the summer as well.

I need to get back to the celebration of the green today.  Only when we think about that we are usually talking about the kind of green we spend and the kind of green when it comes to talking about being kind to the environment.

When you get a spring tune-up on your air conditioner you will save some green (the spending kind) over the summer cooling season.

A new ac unit from Goodman with a higher S.E.E.R. rating will also help you save some green and they are also better (greener) for the environment at the same time. So as you lift your green beer today take a moment and think about this coming cooling season and how you can save in the most important kind of green.

Every time you replace any home appliance these days you have a chance to save some green by comparing the amount of energy they use. That bright yellow label (called EnergyGuide Labeling) tells you what to expect as far as the amount of electricity they use.

When buying a new appliance try to find one that has earned an ENERGY STAR label.  This means that the unit has earned the symbol for energy efficiency helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy-efficient products and practices.

Like we say we are all about saving the green!
