If you watched
the news and weather this morning you know the mid-west and eastern seaboard
are still in the deep freeze while here in the Valley of the Sun we are bumping
up against ninety degrees Fahrenheit.
When do you feel
we will go from warm to hot this year? A more important question maybe, is your
air conditioner ready to keepl you cool and comfortable? Yes, I know, it was
working when you shut it off at the end of our last summer’s cooling season.
Do you know that
some HVAC companies recommend that once a month an AC unit needs to be run for
ten to twenty minutes to keep the unit in good shape. I don’t know about you but while the
temperature in December was in the low fifties I didn’t want to run an air
conditioner for twenty minutes.
We would like to
remind you that now is a great time to do your spring AC tune-up. Do it now and that way you know your HVAC
unit or air conditioner will really be ready for the coming summer heat-waves.
Did You Know?
An average
Phoenix Metro Area summer has 106 days above one-hundred degrees.
I don’t know if
you would consider this worse news, but here is the average number of days that
will be over 110 degrees here in the Valley of the Sun – 17.
Want to know
what year we had the most number of days at or above 110 degrees? That was 32 days in 2007. Wow, a whole month
worth of days at or above 110 degrees Fahrenheit! Don’t blame the National
Weather Service for that, they just keep track of the statistics.
In 1974 Phoenix
had 18 consecutive days with maximum temperatures of 110 or higher.
Here is one
temperature fact that we don’t often think about. The record high for an
overnight low is 96. Ninety-six degrees
would be considered a respectably hot summer day in most of the rest of the
country.
So enjoy our
fantastic spring weather and temperatures, here in the Phoenix Metro area,
while you can.
