Are You Trying To Go Green To Save Some Green When It Comes To AC?

Green heating and cooling systems fall under two distinct categories:

1. Passive

2. Active.

Passive systems maximize nature's ability to heat and cool without furnaces or air conditioners. Among other things, passive technology includes constructing homes with white or light-colored roofs that reflect the sun's energy instead of absorbing it.

As a result, the amount of energy it takes to cool a house is less. Passive designs also use windows that can keep the heat out and cool air in.

Active designs use a variety of mechanical heating and cooling systems. These systems run on solar power, geothermal power or other sources of green energy.

The uptick in green-energy use in recent years is slowly having an impact. For one thing, Americans saved more than $19 billion in 2008 by using various green heating and cooling systems. But these green systems are not cheap -- some solar collectors cost between $30 and $80 per square foot for installation. The government, currently, has incentive programs to help builders and homeowners defray some of the cost.

In April 2011, Santa Clara University installed 60 rooftop solar collectors to heat and cool its student center. Engineers designed the large-scale array to run the building's hot water and air conditioning units.

The system is very efficient. The solar collectors grab the sun's rays and concentrate their captured energy, heating the building's water to 200 degrees. University officials expect the system to reduce the building's natural gas consumption by 70 percent each year and eliminate 34 tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

In general the bigger the installation the quicker the pay-back. So how does the average homeowner do when he tries to go green. The real key is how much he wants to go Green.  Does he want to replace the power grid and go 100% site powered? That is the most expensive method, but it does stop the power company bills from arriving. The pay-back can be from seven to more than ten years. A well insulated, high SEER rated HVAC system, Arizona home of 2,000 square feet can expect to pay the utility company around $2,000.00 per year at the current rates. Older AC units and power quality insulation and that bill can be well north of $3,000 per year.

Now you divide that into the cost of the solar units and upkeep and you know how long your payback will take.

Tuesday October 28th And Phoenix Will See 88 Degrees - AC Anyone?

Here it is Tuesday October 28th 2014 and the Phoenix Metro Area will see Eighty-Eight degrees Fahrenheit, and don’t forget that is in the shade. Yes, standing in the full sun feels even hotter. Of course that is why your house heats up during the afternoon full sun. Yes, that is why the Valley of the Sun is still running their Air Conditioners, while many parts of the rest of the United States are already running their furnaces.

I don’t know about the rest of the Phoenix market but I just don’t like my home to be that hot during the afternoon.  For one thing my big black dog is too old to tolerate that kind of heat. So he sure appreciates the AC running and keeping the house cool and comfortable.

The young and the elderly don’t tolerate heat as well as a healthy mid-age range adult does.  So make sure your AC or HVAC system is running as efficiently as it can.

We are fast approaching the that in-between time when we don’t need our heating systems just yet and the days will get cool enough that the ACs will be quiet all days as well.

That few days or just a couple of weeks are the perfect time to cover your AC unit and get your furnace tuned up for the winter heating season.

If you have an HVAC combo unit or a heat pump you may not need to cover it (in fact in some cases it is a very bad idea) and they still need a tune-up or maintenance this time of year.

You might be asking yourself “Why should I participate in the Aaron’s Mechanical Services Heat Pump Tune-Up program?”

Aaron’s Mechanical Services Heat Pump Tune-Up helps customers manage energy costs.  This program can help reduce costs while improving the efficiency of your home.

A Heat Pump Tune-Up will also:

Improve efficiency and prolong the life of your existing equipment

Ensure your unit’s internal parts are clean and has good air flow over the coils

Provide better temperature and humidity control

Saves money on your electric bill

Looking for fast and fair HVAC service or replacement? Aaron’s Mechanical Services wants you to stay comfortable all year round.  Most important we want you to spend the least amount of money possible while you stay comfortable. The Mid Nineties Are Still Holding On

I was really hoping that today I would be able to write that we had seen the last of the ninety degree (that’s Fahrenheit of course) days here in the Valley of the Sun. But the National Weather Service still has a couple of ninety plus days in the forecast for the Phoenix Metro Area.  I just can’t think fall when we are having our temperatures run in the range that the rest of the country thinks of as “hot” and “Summer.”

Yes, our mornings and evenings are just fantastic, but, my Air Conditioner is still running during the afternoon hours to keep my home cool and comfortable. How about yours?

Did You Know?

Sunny weather. It’s the No. 1 reason visitors come to Greater Phoenix. According to data compiled by the National Climatic Data Center, Greater Phoenix basks in sunshine during 85 percent of the daylight hours — more often than any other major metropolitan area in the United States.

Here are the records for October:

Temperature (degrees F):
Average High: 88.1 degrees
Lowest High: 56 degrees (1959)
Record High: 107 degrees (1980)
Average Low: 60.8 degrees
Highest Low: 82 degrees (1987)
Record Low: 34 degrees (1900, 1911)

Rainfall:
Average: 0.7 inches
Record: 4.4 inches (1972)

November is just a few days away and here is the “Averages” for the Phoenix area.

Average temperature: 64
Average high temperature: 76
Average low temperature: 53
Warmest ever: 96
Coldest ever: 35
Average precipitation: nearly three quarters of an inch.

Now the question is if we will have an average November.

Are You Thinking What The Heck Is A Water Furnace?

If you have been hearing Ads and reading about the latest new buzz word you have seen or heard the term “Water Furnace.”  No they aren’t taking about some kind of new water heater but a variation on a heat pump.

Using electricity as its energy source, heat pumps are used for either the heating or cooling of your home by transferring heat between two reservoirs.

In the warmer months, the heat pump acts like an air conditioner, removing heat from the air inside your home and transferring it outside.

During colder months, heat from outdoor air is extracted and transferred to the interior of your home. Believe it or not, even a 32º Fahrenheit day produces enough heat to warm a home via a heat pump.

So what is a Water Furnace? When we say the heat pump transfers the heat through a radiator of sorts it using the outside air as one half of that process.  With a water furnace it is using coils of tubing that are buried in your yard. And they aren’t filled with just water but a mixture that includes a type of anti-freeze.

Your yard is able to maintain a higher rate of temperature consistency because it absorbs 47% of the suns energy (heat) as it hits the Earth's surface. Geothermal HVAC systems are able to tap into this free energy with a ground based exchange loop. This technology is then used to provide your home or office with central heating and cooling.

During the heating cycle, a “Water Furnace” geothermal heat pump uses the earth loop to extract heat from the ground. As the system pulls heat from the loop it distributes the heat through a conventional duct system as warm air. The same heat energy can also be used for a radiant floor system or even as a boost to your domestic hot water heating.

Using the geothermal cycle for cooling.

In the cooling mode, the heating process is reversed - creating cool, conditioned air throughout the home. Instead of extracting heat from the ground, heat is extracted from the air in your home and either moved back into the earth loop, or used to preheat the water in your hot water tank.

At around four feet down (depends on local and soil composition) the average temperature is 60 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit year round. That makes the heating or cool more efficient than outside air that maybe as low as below zero or as high as one-hundred-ten degrees.

We (the Valley of the Sun) are looking at the mid-nineties for the next four days and you may want to cool off this coming weekend and that should help get you into the Halloween spirit for the following weekend.

Just about an hour north of the Phoenix Metro area is the Prescott and Prescott Valley area and from attractions to haunted places there is plenty of places to visit and things to do.

Prescott has a noticeable number of Halloween events this year, indicating it has become a haven for things that go bump in the night. No surprise, considering its rich territorial past that remains alive in its historic structures. Who knows what inhabits these buildings?

There should be something for just about everyone in this list of activities, making it a spook-tacular three-day weekend.

Guided tours of spooky Prescott locales with A Haunting Experience (AHauntingExperienceTours.com) and Haunted Prescott Tours.

Blue Rose Theater presents Lonesome Valley Haunting every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in October from 6-10 p.m. Tickets $5. Can We See The Cool From Here?

Here we are, October 21st and we are expecting mid-nineties tomorrow and the next day. Many places in the U.S. have already seen snow and we are still running mid-summer temperatures (for the rest of the country).

But as we move on this month we will see our air conditioners run fewer hours each day. While that is very good for our pocketbooks, it means it will soon be time to expect of heating systems and furnaces to take over keeping us warm and comfortable.

If your home or business uses a heat pump it will need to reverse its operation from cooling to heating. That means it is time for the heat pump to have its fall tune-up.  If your heat-pump isn’t running correctly it could mean many wasted dollars as it tries to keep you and your family warm and comfortable.

If you aren’t familiar with a heat pump here is a look at the operation. Simply put, a heat pump is a device that uses a small amount of energy to move heat from one location to another.

While air conditioners and freezers are familiar examples of heat pumps, the term "heat pump" is more general and applies to many HVAC (heating, ventilating, and air conditioning) devices used for space heating or space cooling. When a heat pump is used for heating, it employs the same basic refrigeration-type cycle used by an air conditioner or a refrigerator, but in the opposite direction - releasing heat into the air-conditioned space rather than the surrounding environment. In this use, heat pumps generally draw heat from the cooler external air or from the ground

Not too difficult, right? Heat pumps are typically used to pull heat out of the air or ground to heat a home or office building, but they can be reversed to cool a building. In a way, if you know how an air conditioner works, then you already know a lot about how a heat pump works. This is because heat pumps and air conditioners operate in a very similar way.

One of the biggest advantages of a heat pump over a standard HVAC unit is that there's no need to install separate systems to heat and cool your home. Heat pumps also work extremely efficiently, because they simply transfer heat, rather than burn fuel to create it. This makes them a little more green than a gas-burning furnace. And they don't just heat and cool buildings. If you've ever enjoyed a hot tub or heated swimming pool, then you probably have a heat pump to thank. They work best in moderate climates, so if you don't experience extreme heat and cold in your neck of the woods, then using a heat pump instead of a furnace and air conditioner could help you save a little money each month.

The Mid Nineties Are Back In The Phoenix Metro Area

That late afternoon storm on Sunday sure caught me off guard.  How about you? I guess that is pretty typical weather for the Valley of the Sun.  It can change at a minutes notice.

The folks at the National Weather Service have forecast that we will see the mid-nineties to run through mid-week and to finish out in the very high eighties. It seems that while we may have relatively cool mornings we can’t get away from running the air conditioner in the afternoon.

Sure enough Phoenix is one of the few places in the U.S. where we can wear a sweater in the early morning and be running your AC that same day.

While I would guess your electric bill is lower than it was a few months ago it is still showing the effects of having to continue to rely on your AC unit to still run every day. Is your air conditioner running as efficient as it could? At Aaron’s Mechanical Services we can make sure it is running as efficient as it can.

Your HVAC will soon change from the “Cool” to “Heat” mode.  That “running as efficient as it could” will take on a whole new meaning. We will be expecting the HVAC to keep your home warm and comfortable rather than cool.

Now is a great time to have your climate control equipment checked!

I have to ask have you ever found our Valley of the Sun climate such that you ran your HVAC on the heat setting during the night and then found yourself changing to the “Cool” setting to cool off the house later that same day?

That shows us just how much we rely on our heating and cooling systems. We expect them to run without hesitation whenever we need them. But without proper planning and maintenance they could let you down. Aaron’s Mechanical Services can make sure your HVAC is ready whenever you need it to run.

Running efficiently and saving you money can only happen when your AC is well maintained and care for.

Aaron’s Mechanical Services is well known for Fast and Fair HVAC Repair.

The mid nineties (temperature wise) are back in the Phoenix Metro Area. So you can stop looking for your twenty year old wardrobe.

Looking for fast and fair HVAC service or replacement? Air Conditioning in the News: Daikin Buys Goodman for $3.7 Billion

Daikin Industries Ltd., the world’s largest air-conditioner maker, will buy Goodman Global Inc. for $3.7 billion to expand its home heating and cooling business in North America.

The companies and Goodman owner Hellman & Friedman LLC signed an agreement today under which Osaka, Japan-based Daikin will buy all of the closely held company’s stock, according to a statement. Daikin will use bonds and loans to help finance the purchase, and said it doesn’t plan to sell stock.

The deal gives Daikin more than 900 distribution points as it tries to boost sales for home heating and air-conditioning systems. Daikin fell the most in almost a month as Moody’s Investors Service said the acquisition may prompt it to cut the company’s credit rating.

The transaction will be completed by Dec. 31, pending regulatory approval, the companies said. Daikin plans to borrow money for the purchase from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation to take advantage of the “emergency facility to counter the strong yen,” it said in the statement.

The deal is an opportunity for Daikin to increase its business “where we have little presence,” Noriyuki Inoue, chief executive officer of Daikin, said at a press conference in Osaka. The deal will also help it expand in “emerging and high- volume markets,” he said.

Daikin’s credit rating may be cut because the transaction will have a “significant impact” on the company’s balance sheet and negatively affect its financial leverage, Moody’s said in a statement today. Daikin is currently rated A3 by Moody’s, the fourth-lowest rank among 10 investment grades.

Daikin plans to invest further in Houston-based Goodman, which will continue to be managed as an independent business and keep its current management, according to today’s statement. The U.S. company has more than 4,500 employees, mostly in Texas and Tennessee, and generated $2.1 billion in sales last year, a majority of it in North America, it said.

“This is an opportunity for Goodman to grow globally as well as in the North American market by leveraging Daikin Group’s technical expertise, environmental technologies, and North American commercial expertise,” David Swift, chief executive officer of Goodman, said in Osaka.

Daikin generates 10 percent of its revenue in the Americas, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Air conditioning accounts for 85 percent of its global sales, according to the data.

Cool Arizona Places: Monument Valley

One of the grandest – and most photographed – landmarks in the United States, Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park is a sprawling, sandy preserve that spans the border between Arizona and Utah, bathing the region in rich red hues. Dominated by crimson mesas and surreal sandstone towers – some as tall as 1,000 feet – the area is also known for dramatic, mesmerizing lighting, with the sun illuminating the towers and casting long shadows on the valley floor.

Located inside the Navajo Nation – one of the largest Native American tribes in the United States – Monument Valley is around four hours northeast of Flagstaff, near the Four Corners area.

History & Nature

Now part of the Colorado Plateau, Monument Valley was once a simple flat basin. Over millions of years, layers of sediment piled onto the basin, which was eventually uplifted by pressure from below. Then, wind and water slowly eroded the plateau, leaving Cutler Red siltstone and its sand behind, forming the wonders of Monument Valley that we enjoy today.

As a representation of the Arizona Old West, Monument Valley has been a favorite shooting location for Hollywood filmmakers since the early days of the frontier genre – starting with Stagecoach, in which John Wayne rides horseback across the region. Today, Monument Valley is still a popular backdrop for films and postcards – as well as the ancestral home of the Navajo people, who still reside here today as part of the Navajo Nation, the largest Native American reservation in the United States.

Things to Do

Start your visit at the Visitor Center, located north of Kayenta, off of US 163. From here, take in the panoramic view of the world-famous Mitten Buttes and Merrick Butte. You’ll also find information on self-guided tours, a restaurant with native Navajo cuisine and a gift shop. Guided jeep tours led by Navajo tour operators are also available at the center – giving you the best view available of some of the most notable landmarks in Monument Valley.

On your way out, stop along the roadside – around one mile from the visitor center – for a glimpse into Navajo culture from the many Native vendors selling arts, crafts, Navajo food and souvenirs.

Hotels, Lodging & Camping

Located in the eastern portion of Northern Arizona, there are plenty of places to stay near Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. For hotels, Page – three hours away – and Kayenta – one hour away – offer plenty of options.

Inside the park, the View Hotel offers rooms with a perfect view of the Mitten Buttes and much more – but you’ll need to book a room well in advance. Camping is also available at Mitten View Campground, offering perhaps the best view from any campsite in Arizona. Contact the park for more information. Air Conditioner Tips and Tricks - October 14th 2014

Did you know what celebration happens on October 14th?  It isn’t related to AC Units but it is rather cool. (So sorry, bad pun)

No, Columbus Day was celebrated yesterday on the 13th.

Today is World Standards Day.

World Standards Day is celebrated internationally each year on the 14th of October. The day honors the efforts of the thousands of experts who develop voluntary standards within standards development organizations such as the International Electro-technical Commission (IEC), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).

The aim of World Standards Day is to raise awareness among regulators, industry and consumers as to the importance of standardization to the global economy.

The 14th of October was specifically chosen to mark the date, in 1946, when delegates from 25 countries first gathered in London and decided to create an international organization focused on facilitating standardization.

Even though ISO was formed one year later, it wasn't until 1970 that the first World Standards Day was celebrated.  That is why all photography related film speed standards changed from ASA (American Standards Association) to ISO.

Around the globe, various activities are chosen by national bodies to commemorate the date. The United States will be holding a U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day on 23 October.

The Standards Council of Canada (SCC), Canada's national accreditation body, celebrates World Standards Day together with the international community by observing the day near the dates of the international observance. In 2012 SCC celebrated World Standards Day on Friday, 12 October.

Today’s Air Conditioning Tip: Install mini-blinds or white window shades. Mini-blinds can be very effective and can reduce heat gain from direct sunlight by 40-50 percent. You can also hang bamboo shades or tightly woven screens outside your windows. This will stop up to 80 percent of the sun's heat from getting through your windows. Then just open them on cool or cold winter’s days and let the sunshine in.

If It Is Fall Why Is Phoenix Still So Hot?

Yes, it is the middle of October 2014 and yes, this week we will see our daytime highs pushing the mid to high nineties. OK, we are called the Valley of the Sun and it is getting to be normal or “average” to see October still be a very warm month.

I don’t mean to “beat a dead horse” but nearly all of the United States considers ninety degrees Fahrenheit to be their summer time high temperatures but in the Phoenix Metro area we think that we are cooling off as the daytime highs drop out of triple digits.

Of course ninety degrees is twenty degrees cooler than one-hundred-ten degrees.

Aaron’s Mechanical Services is known for fast and fair AC Repair.

So if your air conditioner isn’t doing a good and efficient (think money savings) job of keeping your family cool it is time to call Aaron’s Mechanical Services at 623-388-4436.

With security a top concern these days many families use their air conditioner during the night rather than have windows open to cool off.  Safety verses saving money. A modern high efficiency ac unit saves money and can increase your family safety.

For everyone in the hospitality industry the temperature difference in the Phoenix Metro area and our colder northern states is good for business as the country cools off and we stay warm.  Actually the Valley of the Sun is down-right hot when compared to daytimes highs in the forties.

Did You Know?

Speaking of what visitors coming to Phoenix may want to see and enjoy.

This coming weekend (October 18-19)

Arizona Taco Festival
Sample the tasty creations of more than 40 taco-making teams battling it out at this annual festival. Live music, a tequila expo, lucha libre wrestling, chile pepper eating contests and more are all part of the fun.

MIMFest Global Music Festival
The Musical Instrument Museum is the site for this two-day outdoor music festival that will feature acts from around the world.

AC Repair for the Phoenix Metro Area

If you have gone online and you have done a Google Search for “AC Repair” you get the following message… About 371,000,000 results (0.55 seconds) Now just what are you supposed to do with that many responses?

The top three are paid ads and on the right side are twelve more paid ads.  Is either of those the best way to find a company to do your AC Repair?

What that leaves are the Google Results that are called “Organic” listings, that is from the fourth listing on down.  If you look very, very close you will see a thin line that separates the ads on top from the listing of companies that have found their way into the search results.

And not just online are the AC Repair results confusing.  While the use of the Yellow Pages have declined over the years a few people still use them.  Hundreds of companies are listed in the pages as well.  It is truly a matter of who do you trust and how soon will they get there?  The last thing you want is to be waiting in 100 degrees plus weather only to find that you time for AC Repair has come and gone and the promised tech is no-where to be seen.

You can ask your neighbors, friends, family, co-workers and even complete strangers for their advice and recommendations for AC Repair.  You can use one of the many review and advice sites that feature an AC Repair category and see what is written there.  You know this would be great if you could truly trust what is written there.  People who have a gripe are more likely to leave a complaint that a satisfied person is likely to leave praise.  It is harsh to say but many reviews aren’t real either. Just people who are pumping in false claims.

So is online the best way to get a good result for AC Repair.  Well perhaps we have to admit it is the only way.  But remember to do your homework and ask lots of questions.

Are they listed with the AZ Registrar of Contractors?

How long have they been in business?

It doesn’t work to ask for references … will they give you a bad one?

Do they take time to help on the phone or is it take a number and will call you back?.  (In reality that can happen sometimes even with good companies)

Can we just recommend that you call Aaron’s Mechanical Services at 623-388-4436 to start with and save you some time!

Cool Arizona Places: Think High Country This Weekend

Right now (Wednesday, October 8th, 2014 at 10AM) the air temperature is just sixty-nine degrees Fahrenheit and that is more than a bit on the very low average for the Phoenix Metro area during the month of October.

This coming weekend (October 11th and 12th) is a different story with the National Weather Service indicating our afternoon highs will be in the nineties.  Depending on what you want to do that maybe a bit high for activities other than swimming and boating.  Oh yes, some die-hard golfers will be out walking on the links even in the 90s.  Those with covered golf Carts may even consider it to be “cool.” Only in Arizona is the nineties considered to be a cool fall day.

The worst news is that this weekend looks to be very humid as well.

With gas prices running at three dollars a gallon this may be a perfect weekend for a road trip into northern Arizona. Start out early and go north on I-17 and join I-40 just outside of Flagstaff and then head east to visit the Meteor Crater. You could choose Winslow or Holbrook for a nice lunch and then on to the Painted Desert – Petrified Forest area to finish out the day.

Meteor Crater is the world’s best preserved meteorite impact site on Earth. Located just minutes from Interstate 40 in Northern Arizona near Winslow, Meteor Crater is the breath-taking result of a collision between an asteroid traveling 26,000 miles per hour and planet Earth approximately 50,000 years ago.

Meteor Crater is nearly one mile across, 2.4 miles in circumference and more than 550 feet deep. It is an international tourist venue with outdoor observation trails, air conditioned indoor viewing, wide screen movie theater, Interactive Discovery Center, unique gift and rock shop, and Astronaut Memorial Park at the Visitor Center located on the crater rim.

The northern part of Arizona will be nearly twenty degrees cooler during the day and in the forties and fifties overnight.  Sweaters and coats will be a welcome addition to your wardrobe.  If you want, pick a spot to stay overnight by backtracking into the Holbrook or Winslow areas.

On Sunday head back to the Valley of the Sun with a stop at Montezuma’s Castle National Monument just outside of Camp Verde.

This area was set aside to commemorate and protect the unique prehistoric settlement along Beaver and Wet Beaver creeks, Montezuma Castle also protects and manages the rich riparian ecosystems that attracted early peoples to the site. Perennial streams and the ecosystems they support are biological “hotspots” within the expansive, semi-arid landscapes of the Sonoran Desert ecoregion.

If you live in the Valley of the Sun and are looking for fast and fair AC Repair? Aaron’s Mechanical Services wants you to stay comfortable all year round.  Most important we want you to spend the least amount of money possible while you stay comfortable. If your air conditioning system or HVAC unit needs service or replacement please think of us and call at 623-388-4436 and we will come to you and solve your cooling Unit service needs.

Will The Next Tropical Storm Wreak Havoc On Your AC Unit?

I just heard the strangest statistic, about Arizona weather, I have ever heard.  This year, 2014, Arizona has gotten more moisture (think rain) from tropical storms than any other U.S. state. I don’t have a link to an Internet source to prove it, but it is what I heard from the NBC channel 12 weather man.

And yes, we have one more tropical storm (Tropical Storm Simon) heading for the Phoenix Metro area and it should be here by sometime Wednesday, October 8th, 2014 during the early morning hours.

From what the National Weather Service has in its forecast this one (Simon) doesn’t seem like it will be near the level of wind and rain we have seen in the previous September storms. That is the good news. We want you to know that if this storm does damage to your air conditioner or HVAC unit we can get you repaired and up and running again as soon as possible.

While this storm will cool us off for a few days the Valley of the Sun will be back in the nineties and very humid by Saturday October 11th, 2014.  They only way to cool off from hot and humid is with an efficiently running AC unit.

Aaron’s Mechanical Services – Fast and Fair AC Repair

Did You Know?

During the first seven months of 2014 the Valley of the Sun’s rainfall was below average.

The yearly average rainfall in the Phoenix Metro area is just over 8 inches (8.03).

In 2014 the Phoenix Metro area has had nearly 11 inches (10.73) by the end of September.

Phoenix went from a total of 6.19 inches coming out of August 2014 to 10.73 by the end of September 2014.

Many days during September 2014 the Phoenix Metro area (at Sky Harbor International Airport) had record breaking rainfall totals recorded.

During an average year the Phoenix Metro area has over two inches of rain fall in the last three months of the year, October, November and December.

If we have average rainfall for the rest of the year the Phoenix Metro area could see a total of 13 inches for 2014 and boy would that be a record.
