AC Repair for the Phoenix Metro Area

If you have gone online and you have done a Google Search for “AC Repair” you get the following message… About 371,000,000 results (0.55 seconds) Now just what are you supposed to do with that many responses?

The top three are paid ads and on the right side are twelve more paid ads.  Is either of those the best way to find a company to do your AC Repair?

What that leaves are the Google Results that are called “Organic” listings, that is from the fourth listing on down.  If you look very, very close you will see a thin line that separates the ads on top from the listing of companies that have found their way into the search results.

And not just online are the AC Repair results confusing.  While the use of the Yellow Pages have declined over the years a few people still use them.  Hundreds of companies are listed in the pages as well.  It is truly a matter of who do you trust and how soon will they get there?  The last thing you want is to be waiting in 100 degrees plus weather only to find that you time for AC Repair has come and gone and the promised tech is no-where to be seen.

You can ask your neighbors, friends, family, co-workers and even complete strangers for their advice and recommendations for AC Repair.  You can use one of the many review and advice sites that feature an AC Repair category and see what is written there.  You know this would be great if you could truly trust what is written there.  People who have a gripe are more likely to leave a complaint that a satisfied person is likely to leave praise.  It is harsh to say but many reviews aren’t real either. Just people who are pumping in false claims.

So is online the best way to get a good result for AC Repair.  Well perhaps we have to admit it is the only way.  But remember to do your homework and ask lots of questions.

Are they listed with the AZ Registrar of Contractors?

How long have they been in business?

It doesn’t work to ask for references … will they give you a bad one?

Do they take time to help on the phone or is it take a number and will call you back?.  (In reality that can happen sometimes even with good companies)

Can we just recommend that you call Aaron’s Mechanical Services at 623-388-4436 to start with and save you some time!

Do You Need A Second Opinion For AC Repair

Replacing your home air conditioner will cost thousands of dollars. So how do you know if repair or replace is your best option.

At Aaron’s Mechanical Services we pride ourselves in our ability to truly repair a lot of the air conditioning units that are not working as efficiently as they should.

Many AC Repair companies will try and sell you on a new unit and replace what you have. They do this because they not only get you to spend money on a big ticket item, but they also may receive a kickback from the manufacturer of the new unit sale.

If you think you need a new unit, or if another AC company is telling you that you need one. Please call Aaron’s Mechanical Services (623-388-4436) for a second opinion. At Aaron’s Mechanical Services we always think repair whenever the repair option is possible and makes the most economic sense.

It is commonplace to require at least three estimates before you have a car repaired after an accident. But when it comes to appliance repair people often go with the first contractor who makes a service call and recommends only the option of replacement rather than repair. That can be a very expensive mistake.

Remember, receiving a second opinion doesn’t mean you don’t trust your HVAC contractor.  It simply means you are an intelligent, motivated consumer ready to play an active role in your own property management.  Most good contractors will respect a home owner who asks for a second opinion from highly trained fellow licensed bonded state registered contractor because it can contribute new information to their own AC Repair diagnosis.

One question you may have is whether to inform the second contractor of the actual cost quoted by the first contactor. We think that you should not disclose the first estimate.  You don’t want that knowledge to taint the second quote amount. Let each contractor stand on their own.

Always make sure you understand the AC Repair or Replacement quotes and that you are truly comparing “apples to apples.” Keep in mind that the lowest repair or replacement estimate may NOT be the best option for long term comfort and over-all cost of operation and energy savings.

If you do have questions makes sure that the contractors address those concerns and are open about each step and cost needed to get you cool and comfortable in a very Fast and Fair manner.

We help make your home comfortable by bringing you Quality Work, Fair Prices and perhaps most important as quickly as possible.  That is why we are known for AC Repair – Fast and Fair!

Cool Arizona Places: General Crook Trail Loop

Looking at the National Weather Service forecast for this coming weekend it seems we are returning to normal August temperatures here in the Phoenix Metro Area.  Yes, the Valley of the Sun is expecting temperatures in the one-hundred-six to one-hundred-eight degrees Fahrenheit range on Saturday and Sunday.

While you could head for a nearby lake or even a dip in the backyard pool to cool off have you considered a scenic drive for this weekend? Cool off on the Rim and enjoy the sights.

One of the most striking geologic features in Arizona is the Mogollon Rim. This steep escarpment, measured in thousands of feet and hundreds of miles, begins just across the border in New Mexico and stretches diagonally two thirds of the way across Arizona. As such, it forms the southern edge of the Colorado Plateau and stands as one of the most impressive overlooks in the Grand Canyon State.

That precipitous drop-off is the star of this scenic drive, part of which traces the rim's edge across the Coconino. In so doing, it follows another feature of interest, the General Crook Trail which the famous Indian fighter blazed to his stronghold at Fort Apache.

When you're not on the rim, you'll still find much to see along this drive, as it winds through a forest well populated with wildlife and gives you a taste of canyon country in scenic East Clear Creek and Barbershop canyons.

The photo was taken in early April, 2004 on the bridge at FR95 and East Clear Creek.

Attractions: Panoramic views off the Mogollon Rim, Photography, Wildlife watching, Fall colors, Hiking, Mountain biking

Road Condition: FH 3 and AZ 87 are paved. All Forest Roads are graveled and suitable for sedans.

Loop Driving Time: 2 hours (54 miles) from Clint’s Well.

Drive to Payson and take Arizona Route 87 to Clint's Well. Your scenic drive can start there. Head north on AZ 87 to FR 95. Follow FR's 95, 96, and 321 a total of 19 miles to FR 300, then 17 miles west (right) to AZ 87 and 9 miles back to Clint's Well.

Closet Town: Happy Jack, AZ

Fast and Fair Is What You Should Expect in AC Repair

How comfortable were you last night? Temperature wise, that is. Were you a bit hot and sticky even though your thermostat was at the same temperature as previous evening and nights. As humidity rises you feel the heat more and more.

So what did you do? Suffer or turn the thermostat down a few degrees.  As you turn down the thermostat you are raising your energy bill. This is especially true when your air conditioner isn’t running at it most efficient manner because it is in need of a good tune-up or even a true repair.

Questions answered by SRP

Q: Is it more energy efficient for the air conditioner to come on for short bursts of cooling (running for five to seven minutes at a time) or to come on and stay on for longer periods? How about the wear and tear on the unit as well?

A: A heat pump's job is two-fold. Not only does it remove the heat from your home, it also must remove the moisture from the inside air in order for you to feel comfortable. When the unit first turns on, it will take about seven to 10 minutes for the unit to get to its peak efficiency and remove the moisture from your home. By allowing a unit to run five to seven minutes, you're not getting the most out of the system. The starting and stopping is also hard on the system.

Q: We are new to Arizona and are wondering how to configure our air conditioning for summer. We have two units, one upstairs and one down. How do you recommend we set them up for comfort and energy savings? Should they be set on different temperatures? Do we redo the settings at night? What temperatures do you recommend?

A: Because heat rises and extra heat gain exists on the second floor because of the windows and attic, the upper level will require more cooling than the lower level. To maintain a constant temperature in your home, set each thermostat at the same temperature. However, to reduce energy costs, you can maintain a comfortable temperature on the floor you are occupying. If you're not using the upstairs, set the second-floor thermostat a couple of degrees higher. Reverse the process at night when you're upstairs.

Q: What size air conditioner should I install on my 2,000-square-foot house?

A: It is important that new or replacement equipment not be sized by "rule of thumb" or by the existing equipment. The only accurate way to determine the correct capacity of heating and air-conditioning equipment for your home is to have a heat-load calculation performed on your home. This will give your dealer the heat gain and heat loss design data for your home. These figures can then be used to select the appropriately sized cooling or heating system for your home based on equipment performance data.

We help make your home comfortable by bringing you Quality Work, Fair Prices and perhaps most important as quickly as possible.  That is why we are known for AC Repair – Fast and Fair!

Mild August Temperatures and Arizona Air Conditioning

This morning (August 24th 2014) on The NBC Today Show Al Rokur was talking about the deadly heat warnings in several U.S. locations. And the high was going to be in the upper eighties. The residents of the Valley of the Sun always wonder when we hear about highs in the eighties and nineties being deadly, and in some places, they are.

The last week the Phoenix Metro area has seen a very mild number of days.  We have seen temperatures below one-hundred degrees Fahrenheit and is running around ten degrees below average for late August in our desert climate.

Why is it we have little problem with the same temperatures that seem to cause so much trouble elsewhere. Two very simple words… air conditioning! Nearly all of our buildings, homes, stores and venues have AC.

When you go to a car dealer you expect that every car they sell will be equipped with air conditioning.

Here in the southwest desert you would not be able to live and play as we do without air conditioning. So with that said may I ask you a question? How is your air conditioner working?  Do you need AC Repair?

If so who are you going to call? You want a company that has been around for a long while.  Did you know that Aaron’s Mechanical Services has been serving the Valley of the Sun since 1994?  We are a licensed and bonded state regulated contractor (ROC# 285200).

We help make your home comfortable by bringing you Quality Work, Fair Prices and perhaps most important as quickly as possible.  That is why we are known for AC Repair – Fast and Fair!

Did You Know?

An average August in the Valley of the Sun sees just two days below one-hundred degrees Fahrenheit.

August 2014 may see nine or ten days with a high temperature in the nineties here in the Phoenix Metro Area. BRRRRR

Like a car closed up in the hot sun your home’s inside temperature would rise into the one-hundred and twenty degree range without your Air Conditioner unit working to keep the interior at a livable temperature.

Looking for fast and fair AC Repair? Aaron’s Mechanical Services wants you to stay comfortable all year round.  Most important we want you to spend the least amount of money possible while you stay comfortable. If your air conditioning system or HVAC unit needs service or replacement please think of us and call at 623-388-4436 and we will come to you and solve your cooling Unit service needs.

Cool Arizona Places: Visit Flagstaff’s Volcano

When you think “Volcano” do you think hot flowing lava? That sure doesn’t sound like a place to cool off. If you really want to cool off this weekend think about taking a jacket and heading for Snowbowl just outside of Flagstaff.

Visiting their volcano means taking the senic chairlift to eleven thousand feet and looking over the volcanic landscape of northern Arizona.

Learn more about northern Arizona’s unique environment, history and geology from an expert Forest Service Ranger at the top of the chairlift.

From the top of the Scenic Chairlift, Partnership Rangers help visitors understand the scope and significance of the 6-million-year-old San Francisco Volcanic Field. The first volcano can be seen in the western horizon, Bill Williams Mountain, a lava dome volcano that erupted about 6 million years ago. The view, one of the most spectacular in the Southwest, shows the first three million years of the volcanic field that moved from west to east. Also visible from the top of the Skyride is about one thousand vertical feet of the face of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Why is it so visible? The North Rim is about one thousand feet higher in elevation (8,000 feet) than the South Rim at 7,000 feet.

Sponsored by the National Park Service and the U.S. Forest Service, the Interpretive Partnership is a team of nine Rangers, mostly retired, and often are volunteers.

Snowbowl Ranger Talks happen every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the top of the Scenic Chairlift.

The Partnership’s goal is to educate visitors to help them understand, cherish, and preserve our local natural and cultural resources. This 20-year-old program is a seasonal partnership between the Flagstaff Area National Monuments and the Flagstaff Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest.

Partnership Rangers are also stationed at other national forests across the region. Many of the Partnership events may be found on the Coconino National Forest website.

Located on the majestic San Francisco Peaks, the Arizona Snowbowl lies 14 miles outside of Flagstaff, 2 hours from Phoenix, and 70 miles from the Grand Canyon. The resort opened in 1938 and is now one of the oldest continually operated ski area in the country.

Storm Damage? Need Air Conditioning Repair

It may be a dry heat but today the Phoenix Metro Area got a very wet rainfall and lots of it. If fact many areas got record amounts of rainfall in a very short amount of time. Four inches of rain in less than an hour is virtually unheard of in this part of Arizona.

Early Tuesday morning (August 19, 2014) brought nearly four inches of rain to some parts of the Valley of the Sun. The flash flooding results have lead to swift water rescues from vehicles and homes (yes, homes), freeway and many street closures.

That much rain can lead to all kinds of problems and your AC unit may be affected as well. Keep in mind that you are responsible for protecting your home from additional damage (more rain or wind) after the storm until your insurance company can start their repairs. This little known insurance requirement catches many home owners of guard.

If you neighbors tree took out you Air Conditioner we can help get you cool again as soon as the tree is removed and the roof is solid. In fact, either your neighbors insurance or yours should be paying for the new AC unit.

Even ground mounted AC units can be damaged by impacts, trapped debris and the water from the torrential downpour. So if your AC unit has sustained damage from this storm let us come to your rescue.

Did You Know?

Average Phoenix Yearly Rainfall: 8.03 inches

Highest Single Day Rainfall: 3.11 inches on September 08, 1916

Weather Records for Phoenix are based on recordings at Sky Harbor International Airport

Rainfall August 19th New River, Arizona: 3.98 inches

Average Yuma Yearly Rainfall: 3.3 inches

Average Coronado National Monument Yearly Rainfall: 22.0 inches

Five Days Under 100 In August In Phoenix

During this week, August 19th to August 23rd the Valley of the Sun is forecast to be under one-hundred degrees Fahrenheit. Five days in-a-row under one-hundred in August for Phoenix Arizona is almost unheard of.

I tried to find a source for information about the number of consecutive days under 100 degrees in August in Phoenix and could not find that information. So I can’t comment on this week being a record. For me I can’t remember this condition before this week.

It is a nice break from our normal summer heat. But now we hear the other shoe drop (to steal an old time phrase).  It is going to be very humid.  The high nineties with high humidity is even more uncomfortable than being over one-hundred degrees and our normal low humidity.

We all know that sleeping in a hot humid climate is considered to be the most uncomfortable conditions. Lucky for Phoenix residents we have good cool air conditioning.  You do have cool comfortable air conditioning, don’t you?

If you don’t have a cool comfortable house Aaron’s Mechanical Services can help fix that we are just a simple phone (623-388-4436) call away. Don’t suffer in the heat and humidity. We are known for our Fast and Fair AC Repair!

Did You Know?

When will the last one-hundred degree day in 2014 for the Phoenix Metro Area be? Here are the weather statistics:

The last occurrence of 100 °F or higher:
Earliest - September 2, 1904 (more than likely our heat island will keep that from happening again)
  Latest - October 23, 2003
  Average - September 28

Average annual number of days with maximum temperatures of 100°F or higher 1981-2010: 110

Least number of days with maximum temperatures of 100°F or higher: 48 in 1913

Most number of days with maximum temperatures of 100°F or higher: 143 in 1989

Greatest number of consecutive days with maximum temperatures of 100°F or higher: 76 in 1993

Aaron’s Mechanical Services Celebrates Goodman AC’s 30th Anniversary

Harold V. Goodman took a no-frills approach to building his brand, pumping money into manufacturing and dealer support instead of fancy offices and national advertising. Now, 30 years later, the Goodman brand of air conditioning, ventilation and heating solutions is the nation’s second largest manufacturer of HVAC products for residential and commercial use – known as much for introducing industry innovations as it is for building affordable Air Conditioning equipment.

For its 30th year, the Goodman brand started the celebrations early by attaining an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. It’s product line now offers leading-edge products such as modulating, variable-speed, and two-stage gas furnaces, high-efficiency air conditioners that employ a unique SmartCoil® condensing coil, a variety of communicating control systems that can connect to high-efficiency system with as few as four wires, Mini-Split heat pumps that bring remote-controlled, energy-efficient heating and cooling into virtually any space without ductwork, and light commercial products.

Many Goodman brand products offer a reassuring trio that includes a Lifetime Compressor Limited Warranty, 10-year Unit Replacement Limited Warranty, and a 10-year Parts Limited Warranty.

The highway to becoming one of the nation’s leading HVAC manufacturers started in 1975 when Harold Goodman – an air conditioning contractor that found success cooling off muggy Houstonians – began making affordably priced flexible air ducts and plastic blade registers. When an HVAC manufacturer decided to call it quits in 1982, Harold jumped at the opportunity to buy its equipment, move it all to Houston and start building his own line of central air conditioners and heat pumps.

For the next three decades, Goodman Air Conditioning & Heating expanded its test facilities, manufacturing lines, product offerings and limited product warranties. In many ways, the company paved the way for the popularity of high-performance, energyefficient heat pumps.

To prevent a leading cause of premature evaporator coil failures, Goodman introduced a single-metal solution with its All-Aluminum™ evaporator coils. Laboratory and field tests of these coils have proved their durability equals, even exceeds, the performance of copper tube and aluminum fin evaporator coils.

For the Goodman brand, the local HVAC dealer is always part of the success equation. As further proof, this year the Goodman brand is launching a company-wide series of initiatives under the DealerFirst™ program. Built on the foundation of “the dealer is the brand,” says Swift, a myriad of new and improved programs, products, and support will be introduced throughout the coming year.

Cool Arizona Places: Fort McDowell

Normally during the summer we try to find places that are “up north” to get you out of the heat here in the Valley of the Sun.  This weekend we are expecting morning lows in the high seventies and day time highs in the low one-hundreds (think 103 to 105 degrees Fahrenheit) by late afternoon.

This weekend just might be a good one to look closer to home for an interesting historical outing.  In the far north east valley is the remains of old Fort McDowell.

Fort McDowell was established by the California Volunteers on the west bank of the Verde River in September, 1865. Situated in the midst of Indian country and surrounded by mountains, the area around the isolated location still contained several often used travel routes. Created to protect the area from the fierce Apache who roamed the Salt and Gila River Valleys, it was built to be one of the most solid posts in the territory. The camp was first called Camp Verde, but was later renamed to Camp McDowell after Major General Irwin McDowell, made famous for his loss of the first large-scale battle of the American Civil War, the First Battle of Bull Run. The fort became an embarkation point for many of the expeditions against the Apache, including becoming the base of  General George Crook's Tonto Basin campaign in the early 1870's.

During the winter of 1872-73, nine detachments, using Apache scouts recruited from the reservations, crisscrossed the Tonto Basin, in constant pursuit of the Apache. Wearing down their opponents, the soldiers forced as many as 20 different skirmishes, resulting in the deaths of about 200 Indians. The fort's most decisive victory was the Salt River Canyon Battle in December, 1872, when two companies of the 5th Cavalry, along with 30 Apache scouts surprised a band of more than a hundred Yavapai as they tried to emerge from a cave deep in the recesses of Salt River Canyon. the victory was instrumental in bringing the campaign to a close.

On April 10, 1890, the fort became the Fort McDowell  Indian Reservation, serving the Mohave, Apache, and some Pima Indians. In 1903, additional land was set aside for the reservation.

The site of the old fort is just west of the Fort McDowell Indian Agency in Maricopa County. Overgrown with vegetation, the only original building left are the ruins of the officers' quarters. However, low earth mounds and adobe remnants mark the location of other structures.

The Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation is a 950-member Native American tribe that calls Central Arizona’s upper Sonoran Desert home. Located to the northeast of Phoenix within Maricopa County, Arizona, the 40-square mile reservation is a small part of the ancestral territory of the once nomadic Yavapai people, who hunted and gathered food in a vast area of Arizona’s desert lowlands and mountainous Mogollon Rim country.

Energy Prices Are On The Rise – Is Your AC Wasting Money?

Many people tell me that pumping gas and running their air conditioner reminds them of - their money going down the drain.  Well we sure need cars for our everyday transportation needs.

Here in the Valley of the Sun… summer means we NEED our air conditioner to stay cool and comfortable.  In fact proper cooling in the Phoenix Metro area is truly a matter of life or death.  Most people would not survive without air conditioning on the hottest of summer days.

In many parts of our great country people begin to talk about hot summer days when temps reach into the mid-eighties.  It is hard for them to imagine that we consider a day in the nineties to be a very cool summer day.

Many new cars measure temperature these days and display for the driver’s information.  Most times they show readings well above the weather services given temperature.  No the cars aren’t wrong, that is the air temperature where they are measuring it and that is what your body is feeling.

Yesterday my car said the inside temp was 116 while the radio was claiming just 105 degrees outside.  No wonder I was feeling good and hot.

When your air conditioner goes out you can chose from many companies to make a service call.  We would like you to consider using Aaron’s Mechanical Services and calling 623-388-4436 when you need help with an AC problem.  As we like to say Fast and Fair AC Repair.

Need Air Conditioning Repair? Call Us! We have been bringing Air Conditioning Sales, Service and Repair to the Valley of the Sun since 1994!

We help make life comfortable by bringing you Quality Work, Fair Prices as quickly as possible. Call us at 623-388-4436.

Did you know that based on 2012 usage figures Americans spend more than $22 billion a year on electricity to cool their homes with air conditioning — and use a whopping 183 billion kilowatt-hours, according to recent statistics from the U.S. Department of Energy.

Is your air conditioner wasting your hard earned money?

A new and much more efficient Air conditioner (as rated the SEER number) would go a long ways toward reducing both the dollar amount and the kilowatts used.  In both cases you can save the money from the installation of a new AC unit.

Looking for fast and fair AC Repair? Aaron’s Mechanical Services wants you to stay comfortable all year round.  Most important we want you to spend the least amount of money possible while you stay comfortable. Think AC Repair As Part of Your Monthly Budget

Today, Monday August 11th 2014 is forecast for the Phoenix Metro Area to be one-hundred-eight degrees Fahrenheit.  But the National Weather Service also list the humidity at twenty-five percent and the Dew Point at sixty degrees.

That will be a very hot and humid afternoon.  What does all that have to do with your monthly budget?  AC Repair in the Valley of the Sun is a fact of life and sooner or later you will NEED AC Repair.

If the average AC Repair is $250 to $400 (your experience can and WILL vary) and it needs to be done every three years or so you need to put away as little as $10.00 a month.  Of course you could put the repairs on a credit card with some vendors.  Having the money set aside for the repair is the most cost effective way to pay the repair.

That means having your own repair policy means funding it with, say, $20.00 a month or just $5.00 a week.  That should be doable for most everyone.  Once you have you fund up and running it could be used to cover many of the repairs needed around your house.

If you are lucky and your air conditioner last a full tens years before it need repair or replacement that means you will have set aside around $2,500 dollars and that can go toward the cost of a new AC unit if that is what you need.

Planning ahead is always a good way to budget for those household expenses you know will eventually happen. Some experts claim that the yearly cost of home ownership repairs and maintenance is five percent of your home’s value. So if you have a home that is $250,000 you will in some way need to spend an extra $10,000 per year on maintenance, repairs and upkeep.  Normally you should be maintenance free for the first five years after the purchase of a new home.

If you wonder what is included in those figures here is a partial list;

Paint
Appliances
Landscaping
Furniture
Electronics
HVAC
Roof Repairs
Windows
Plumbing
Electrical
Flooring
Fencing

How does your budget plan measure-up?

Aaron’s Mechanical Services Asks is Your AC Cool Enough?

How much do you spend each month keeping your home as “COOL” as you like it? How old is your home?

No we aren’t going to say that you must buy a new air conditioner to save money on your energy bill.  Though that might be one real answer as all or part of your energy costs.

But did you know that many folks have money flowing out of their air ducts? Yes, air ducts will develop leaks over time and then your expensive cold air is leaking into your attic or trying to cool off your backyard.

Leaking air ducts can lead to a significant loss of cooled air. This air leaks into your attic space and never reaches your living area, which may lead to you adjusting your temperature to try to make your living space more comfortable. The more you make your air conditioner systems work, the higher your utility bills will be. Sealing the ducts is normally easy once you find the leaks.

So the first step is to find out if you have leaky air ducts.

If this is going to be a DIY project know that you are going to need to go into your attic (boy is it hot up there this time of year) and it means moving insulation as well (protect your skin and use a proper breathing mask as well).

With your air conditioner running you need to run a smoke pencil along the joints and seams of your air ducts. If there are leaks the air will disturb the smoke coming from the smoke pencil.  You need to mark the areas that need to be sealed.  The first piece of advice is that you never use “duct tape” to seal your air ducts.

There are metalized foil tapes or a mastic that are used to seal small leaks.  Some joints will need to be repaired or replaced by a trained service tech if the leaking areas are too bad (large) for just tape or sealant to be used.

Because ducts can be concealed in walls, ceiling, attics, and basements, repairing them can be difficult. Besides just sealing them there are hi-tech options for testing and sealing ducts that are not easily reached due to their location.

Calling in the pros is often the best way to go.

Cool Arizona Places: Weekend Cool Offs Are Everywhere

With the Phoenix Metro area forecast to be in the one-hundred-seven-ish range this weekend you may want to travel a bit to cool off. Going north can see temperature ranges being about twenty degrees cooler and even the south east part of the state (think Tucson and the Benson area) can be ten or more degrees cooler.

We are very blessed in Arizona to have such diverse topography and climate ranges you can find so much to do on weekends. So don’t suffer in the Valley of the Sun heat, travel a bit to cool off with many fun things to do.

Off course if your air conditioner is working the way it should you can be cool indoors here in Phoenix.  If you need AC Repair give Aaron’s Mechanical Services a call at 623-388-4436.  If not take a dip in your or a local swimming pool.

For Your Consideration Grand Canyon North Rim

August is the perfect time to make a trip to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.  You have beautiful vista and just one/tenth the number of people to deal with.

While high elevation and heavy snow keep the North Rim closed during the winter months, this less-traveled area – far away from the crowds of Grand Canyon Village – is a remote, relaxing place to enjoy the beauty of the canyon in solitude.

Usually accessible from mid-May to mid-October, the North Rim offers visitors a campground, general store and camper facilities. It’s also home to the historic, rustic Grand Canyon Lodge. Additional campgrounds, lodging options and stores are available in Jacob Lake, around 45 miles north, outside the entrance to the park.

Take a road trip on the scenic Kaibab Plateau-North Rim Parkway to the north rim of the Grand Canyon. Along the way, you’ll pass rolling hills, huge meadows and aspen-fir forests that make perfect habitats for a wide range of wildlife.

During early morning or evening hours, watch for deer browsing in vast meadows. In autumn, you might catch a flock of Merriam’s turkeys edging an aspen forest glowing gold from autumn color.

Inside the forest, Williamson’s sapsuckers beam yellow bellies and tassel-eared Kaibab squirrels romp. Resident California condors glide in the afternoon thermals near the canyon’s rim. But plan ahead, the road closes on the first snow after October 15.

Finding an AC Repairman Before You Need One

Are you one of the people who have recently moved into your home or perhaps to the Phoenix Metro area for the first time. Welcome to the Valley of the S
un in August.  The great news is the the weather will get better… I promise!

Is this is your first home or are you new to the area, odds are that, here in Arizona you haven't established yourself with a good Air Conditioning Contractor. Hopefully your walk-through inspection found your HVAC system operating properly before you closed on your home, so it's really not a concern now, or is it?

What, you mean you haven't thought of that? Let's see....you already found a great School, Doctor, perhaps several, you've located all the necessities of everyday life....a Dry Cleaner, Gardener, Plumber, Painter, Auto Mechanic, Cleaning Service, Pharmacy, Grocer, Bakery, Veterinarian for your pet, but the thought of finding a Contractor to call 'when' (not if) you need service for the comfort systems in your home hasn't crossed your mind?

Contractors are used to being the 'out of sight; out of mind' people...until needed! Murphy’s Law states that your Air Conditioner will break down at the worst possible time and probably on the hottest day of the year (or at least it will feel that way).

They are use to dealing with thousands of homeowners and have yet to be as surprised or flustered as a new homeowner might be, when emergency service is needed. And, sadly, contractors are also used to having customers sound unhappy when they call. We suppose it's no fun to say "I'm waiting for my HVAC Service Company to come to my house", unlike the thrill in one's voice when the Home Designer is coming, or the new furniture is being delivered. Alas, Heating and Air Conditioning Contractors are really nice people.....Really, we are! And, we try awfully hard to make homeowners feel comfortable.

Here are some suggestions:

Search the internet for a company that services your area.

Read testimonials and reviews

Call and introduce yourself.

Tell the owner or office staff that you're new to the area (perhaps a friend or neighbor has recommended the company) and schedule a routine maintenance for your system so that when the time comes that you're in need of service in a hurry, you've already made the introduction and are comfortable with the company.

It's stressful to locate a repair company when you realize that your Central Air Conditioning isn't working, or your Furnace.

Air Conditioning Cooling When the Humidity and Temperature Are Both Very High

We all know that Arizona has the reputation that is summed up by the statement “But, it’s a dry heat.”  If we look at a weather report or statement we usually see something like 106 degrees Fahrenheit – Feels like 100 degrees.

From mid-July through sometime in mid-September we are anything but a dry climate.  We enter what we call the “monsoon season” and that weather statement changes to something like 105 degrees Fahrenheit – feels like 110 degrees.

This last week we have been seeing dew points above 60 degrees and with our humidity at or above 55 percent.  Before you recent transplants remind us that many places in the country see humidity at or approaching 100% they never do that with real measured temperatures above one-hundred degrees Fahrenheit.

It is one thing to have your air conditioner cool you off with single digit humidity it is quite another to do it when the humidity is around 80 percent like it was last weekend.  How did your air conditioner do, cooling your home?  Were you cool and comfortable? Or did you feel a bit sticky?

An air conditioning unit that is running correctly can keep you both cool and dry.  That effect means you will feel comfortable.  You won’t be sticking to the furniture and your clothes won’t be sticking to you.

Perhaps the worst side effect is you can’t get a comfortable night’s sleep with the sheet sticking to you. Getting a good night’s sleep comfortably is really the bottom line to getting through an Arizona summer.

So how is your air conditioner doing? Is this the sign that you are in the need of AC Repair? What are you going to do about it and who are you going to call?

At Aaron’s Mechanical Services we have been keeping the Valley of the Sun homeowners cool and comfortable since 1994.  We the skills and know what it really takes to get your air conditioner running correctly.

You want to stay cool and comfortable and not have to take out a loan to pay your electric bill.  We can help.  We can help you with a workable solution to your air conditioning problems.

We help make your home comfortable by bringing you Quality Work, Fair Prices and perhaps most important as quickly as possible.  That is why we are known for AC Repair – Fast and Fair!
