Will the Phoenix High Really be One Hundred Degrees Above Minnesota?

Normally on Thursday, this time of year (Winter), we would be writing about a new product design or heating unit that would save you money over an older less efficient unit.

The National Weather Service is predicting that the high, in the Phoenix Metro area, the high will be in the very high seventies to the low eighties.  It is very hard to write about heating here in the Valley of the Sun when it is going to be that warm and much of the rest of the nation is still in the deep freeze.

Yes, I know, we normally call our friends and family during January and kid them that we are barbequing when they are shoveling snow.  But, this storm has been deadly and it just isn’t a good time for levity.

So are you planning on doing a Super Bowl party this weekend? Or, have you been invited to one? Perhaps you are planning on spending time out at your local watering hole to watch the game with hundreds of other fans.

Is it fair to ask who do you want to win this year’s game, the Denver Broncos or the Seattle Seahawks? As this is written it seems that the current Las Vegas line gives a slight edge to the Seahawks.

Here in Phoenix Metro area this week also brings the Phoenix Open golf tournament and the Sahuaro State Kennel Club dog show for you non-sports fans.

AZ Central website lists at least twenty-eight things you can do or see this weekend.  I’ll bet if you work at it you will be able to find even more things you can do this weekend.

For a very different, but desert related theme here is an event you may (and is may) want to attend. With our mild winter, the rattlesnakes are out of hibernation. Join Ranger Amy and Ranger Mark of Sonoran Wildlife Services and learn to recognize their warning signs and what you should do if you find one in your yard. There will even be rattlers on display — but not to touch! This will be at the McDowell Mountain Regional Park 1-2pm on January 31st.

February 1st also brings us “Larry the Cable Guy” at Talking Stick Resort at 8:00pm. Blue Collar Comedy Tour’s multi-platinum recording comedian, Larry the Cable Guy, makes a special appearance at the Talking Stick Resort Ballroom on Saturday, February 1st. Come on out and “Git R’ Done” with the star of The History Channel’s, “Only in America with Larry the Cable Guy.” With multiple acting credits and seven comedy albums—three of which have been certified gold—comedy fans are in for a night of hee-larious laughs with Larry the Cable Guy!
