Switching From A Swamp Cooler To An Air Conditioner

We know that you may think a swamp cooler is far less expensive to operate than a true central air conditioner.  There is no direct comparison there.

But to be fair, are you tired of sweating more and enjoying it less. Several months every year the dry Arizona air and a swamp cooler get along well and while your air will be more humid it will be cool and fairly comfortable. Here is the bad news and if you are living with a swamp cooler you know I speak the truth.  For many more weeks in our monsoon season the humidity (or dew point really) is too wet for a swamp cooler to do any true cooling at all.  They just begin blowing warm (or hot) wet air.

How many times have you said to yourself that now is the time to switch to a real air conditioner?  More than once I’ll bet.  Do you find yourself not being able to sleep because you are just too hot and sticky.

Do you wonder how much the cost will be for your home.  We can’t tell you over the phone. We need to come and see where and how your swamp cooler is mounted on your home. We need to find out what your duct work is like.

In some older homes the first buyers were given the choice between AC Units and evaporative coolers.  The installation was set-up for either type of unit.  Converting that type of home is really very easy.  It is just a matter of, remove the swamp cooler and replacing it with an air conditioner.

There may be a need for thermostat wiring and perhaps a new electrical line (from 110 to 220 volts) being run to the new air conditioner.

It will be more expensive to put in new duct work if that is needed.  Again we need to see what you have now to fairly quote you an accurate price.

The good news is that the new air conditioners with their improved efficiency (higher SEER) rating will mean the difference in cost of operation is less than you might imagine.
