Is September 5th The Last 110 Day For 2013?

I
Is September 5th the last 110 degree Fahrenheit day for 2013? I sure think that is a fair question and unfortunately it may not be.  We can always hope that it will be. The record for the latest 110 degree day is September 15th and that happened in 2000.

If you are wondering why we even think about the high temp during this time of year the answer is very simple.  Here at Aaron’s Mechanical Service we repair and replace air conditioning systems for your home.  We want you to be cool and comfortable.  Understanding how high temperatures affect you is just a small part of our job, but a vital one.

The Phoenix Metro area is the hottest large metropolitan area in the United States.  To find a hotter one you need to look to the Middle East where daytime highs can reach into the 130 degree range.

Now the Chamber of Commerce and the local tourist board don’t like us to say the “hot” word when it comes to our climate (they think it scares away the average visitor) but we think it is only fair to tell it like it is.  Phoenix has stinking hot days.  Even when the humidity is very low, and we have many of those days, it is still hot when they daytime high is over 110 degrees for many hours.

What makes the Valley of the Sun livable is plain and simple, air conditioning and an AC unit that is running at peak efficiency.  That is where Aaron’s Mechanical Service comes into the picture.  We help keep the homes in Phoenix Arizona cool and comfortable… livable.

Air conditioners are complex mechanical systems that depend on a wide variety of conditions to work correctly. They are sized to meet a certain “load” on the house. They are designed to have certain amount of refrigerant, known as the “charge”. They are designed to have a certain amount of air flow across the coils. When any of these things changes, the system will have problems.

If you produce more heat indoors either from having more people or appliances or because of changes in the house, your air conditioning may not be able to keep up.

When your AC is down and out the first thing you think about is the need to get it running as soon as possible.  We understand and support that as much as possible.  Sometimes the best fix is a new ac unit. Only an in home visit will let you know where you stand with an older unit.  With a new air conditioning unit you can have a 5, 7 or 10 year warranty and with that comes true peace of mind.

If you are replacing the air conditioner, look to buy high efficiency equipment. The most generally known efficiency rating is Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER). SEER 13 is the minimum efficiency you should consider, but higher efficiencies are likely to be quite cost effective.
