A Few Cooler and Wet Days Ahead

Well, we finally get a break from our triple digit temperatures.  But, with afternoon highs in the mid to upper nineties and very humid your air conditioner will still be working hard to keep you cool and comfortable.

We just want you to know that if your AC Unit gives you trouble we can be there quickly to get you cool and comfortable.  While your unit may not have to run as long as it would on a day in the triple digits it still will be running to keep you home cool.  Many people who have had their thermostats set in the low eighties to save money may set them to seventy-eight or even a bit lower.  When it is humid it takes a few degrees lower settings to make you feel as comfortable as when the humidity is a lot lower.

Ah, the sweet relief of a cool, dry home after a hot, sweaty afternoon of outdoor work.  Your AC system's air compressor and condenser are sometimes located on the ground, close to your foundation. It works best when there's about twenty-four inches of clear space in all directions. Have you let nearby shrubs, tall grass, leaves, and hanging branches grow to close and affect the efficiency of your ac unit?

Schedule this tune-up before the cooling season starts (or do it now if you didn't do it earlier this year), and make sure it includes the following tasks: cleaning and inspecting coils; cleaning or replacing filters; adjusting and replacing fan belts; lubricating motors and bearings; cleaning and checking blowers and fans; inspecting controls and safeties; checking refrigerant and pressures; and verifying operating temperatures.  You know the old saying that often attributed to Benjamin Franklin, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

Did you know?  Shutting too many interior doors can sometimes cause central AC systems to go out of balance, meaning there's less than full airflow throughout the entire house. If your doors touch the carpet as they close is a perfect example.
