Why We Live in the Valley of the Sun

If you aren’t sure where the Valley of the Sun is, when we use that phrase we mean the Phoenix Metro Area. And this next ten days is a perfect example why many of us chose to live here.

Let’s compare another large metro area in the northeast to ours here in the desert southwest. We are going to compare the National Weather Service forecast for the Phoenix Metro Area and the Boston MA metroplex.

Here in Phoenix for the next seven days our afternoon highs will not drop below eighty degrees Fahrenheit.  The highest will be on Saturday February fourteenth at eighty-five degrees. Our nights will have the lowest temperature on Thursday the twelfth at fifty-one degrees. The days will be Sunny or with light clouds with zero chance or precipitation. Really beautiful weather.

Now Boston, not so much. Their forecast shows that for the next seven days their afternoon highs will not go above thirty degrees Fahrenheit. That means the whole week will never even get above freezing. Their nights will have the lowest temperature on Friday the thirteenth at minus 4 degrees. The days are forecast to be snowing, windy or just plain cloudy at the best. Real winter style weather.

They may have won the big football game but Phoenix wins with the best weather. We hope Bostonians can stay safe and warm this next week as they have some really nice people who live back there.

Before anyone else mentions it this is an above average week, temperature wise, here in the Valley of the Sun.  Our average is around eight degrees cooler. So just replace the eighties with the seventies.

For those who are looking for cooler weather here in the Phoenix metro area the seventies are coming back in just eight days or so.
