Cool Arizona Places: Desert Botanical Garden

Courtesy of Phoenix Desert Botanical Gardens
This coming weekend will be the first one-hundred degree days.  But mornings are still beautiful. The temperature at dawn is predicted to be 68 degrees Fahrenheit.  It should be in the low nineties around noon. So you could have a very nice morning.  Saturday May 4th 2014 could tie or even break the record high for the day.  The record is 100 degrees set in 1962.

All over the Valley of the Sun and into the desert the native flowers and plants are in full and beautiful bloom.  This should be a wonderful weekend to see these unique plants celebrating springtime in the desert.

This would be a good weekend to visit the Phoenix Desert Botanical Gardens.  The Desert Botanical Garden is a 140 acres botanical garden located at 1201 North Galvin Parkway.

Spring continues at the Garden with the Spring Butterfly Exhibit through May 11 and the Music in the Garden spring concert series Friday nights. FairyWorlds! opens at the Garden on May 15 and continues through early June.

Take a stroll through the beautiful Marshall Butterfly Pavilion and find yourself surrounded by hundreds of fluttering butterflies. Watch as butterflies sip nectar and bask in the sun in this lush and colorful habitat. Special outdoor displays showcase plants that attract butterflies.

Don't forget to check out the Chihuly After Dark events Saturday nights and the Chihuly in the Garden exhibition, closing May 18.

Discovery and surprise await you on the Garden trails. Artist Dale Chihuly returned to the Desert Botanical Garden with a stunning exhibition of his extraordinary and vibrant works of art.
