Unusual Warnings For The Phoenix Metro Area

In the Phoenix Metro area we are very used to see excessive heat warnings during the summer.  We have a good understanding of how to protect ourselves from the heat and what not to do.  We want to avoid heat stress or worse a heat stroke during our one-hundred or one hundred-ten plus days.

As December rolls on we are now getting the unusual (but not unheard of) cold temperature warnings. We need to protect our plants and outdoor pets.  We also need to do other things to protect ourselves and perhaps check on our neighbors so they are protected as well.

In an area that has the well deserved nickname of the Valley of the Sun it seems strange to read or hear the National Weather Service issuing special weather statements that are all about the cold temperatures. While we aren’t setting records each day this is a very long cold snap for the metro area. Normally our temperature extremes are just a day or two duration at a time.

By tonight we will have had three nights in a row with our overnight low below freezing within Metro Phoenix. If we add in the outlying areas the run of below freezing will extent to nearly a week in duration.

How has your furnace been doing keeping your home as warm as you would like?  Is it struggling to keep your living areas nice an warm at seventy-eight degrees? Or are you wanting an even warmer temperature in your home.

Not only how warm your heating system can keep your home, the main concern can be how much your current system is costing you to maintain your expected level of heating.

New systems can be much more efficient when it comes to the cost of each degree you need in that increase.

At Aaron’s Mechanical Service we want you to stay comfortable all year round.  If your heating system or HVAC unit needs service or replacement please think of us and call at 623-388-4436 and we will come to you and solve your air conditioning service needs.

Remember we can be at your home quickly to diagnose your system’s problem(s). Many times it can be a simple adjustment rather that a repair or replacement.  You won’t know until you call Aaron’s Mechanical Service at 623-388-4436.

Did You Know:
On average, Phoenix has only one day per year where the temperature drops to or below freezing. However, the frequency of freezes increases the further one moves outward from the urban heat island. Frequently, outlying areas of Phoenix see frost. The earliest frost on record occurred on November 4, 1946, and the latest occurred on April 4, 1945. The all-time lowest recorded temperature in Phoenix was 16 ° Fahrenheit on January 7, 1913, while the coldest daily maximum was 36 ° F on December 10, 1898.

  1. Thanks a lot for sharing this helpful article. You've listed some great tips about prepping the heating unit. It is pretty convenient to get heating services in Zanesville, OH.
