Cooking Outdoors or In Microwave Keeps You Cooler

During the summer you can save money on your AC costs just by cooking smart.

Use your microwave oven, countertop appliances or outdoor grill for cooking instead of the oven or stove.  Stay cooler for less by not heating the kitchen when it is 110 plus outside.

All three of those options will save money in two ways.  You don’t use as much electrical energy and you don’t heat up your house as much with your microwave oven, countertop appliances or outdoor grill.  That heat you DON’T have to remove from your house means you Air Conditioner doesn’t have to run as long and that can be a big $avings.

What says summer better than burgers and hot dogs? Instead of using your oven or stove, which can generate heat on an already hot day, fire up the outdoor grill for cooking. You can also use your microwave or other countertop appliances in place of the stove or oven.

Most microwaves will cook a standard hotdog in 25 seconds, and a bun length hotdog in 30 seconds.
If you cook a hot dog in a microwave too long you get a hot dog that split or burst and that is not a good looking hot dog.  They say we eat first with our eyes.

That shorter cooking time is a large savings over the five minute (after the water reaches a boil) cooking by boiling hotdogs on a typical kitchen stove.  The waste heat from the boiling water and electrical element is even more heat your AC needs to remove.

Many people are sure that their hot dogs and hamburgers that are cooked on an outdoor grill just plain taste better than any cooking you can do on any stove.  Better taste and no heating of your indoor space.

If you question the cost of running a propane grill versus your stove cook top you are correct that there is a difference.  Cooking a group burgers on the grill should cost about 0.45 cents and cooking the same on an electric stove would be around 0.20 cents.  You still have to figure in the cost of the additional work your AC unit needs to do in order to cool your house back down.

Taste vs costs, the call is up to you.  Speaking of calls if you have an AC problem you should be calling Aaron’s Mechanical Service a call at 623-388-4436.
