Seven Energy Saving Tips

AC Filters
Replace your AC filters regularly.  A dirty air filter is the #1 reason for HVAC system failure. A dirty filter restricts the air flow into your HVAC systems air handler. This restricted air flow places additional strain on the air handler fan motor and could, over time, burn out the motor and cause your system to overheat and ultimately fail. Filter replacement is a small price to pay to extend to life of one of the biggest financial investments in your home.

Fans Make You Comfortable
Use task area fans or ceiling fans to cool you a the temperature warms up.  Ceiling fans make you feel comfortable when it’s hot by warmer air over your body and increasing the evaporation, which is how the body cools itself. You feel the reaction just like a wind chill factor.

Don't Block Refrigerator Vents
The air that comes into your fridge and freezer comes through a vent on the inside.  Make sure you don’t place food or items in front of those vents, as the appliance will use more electricity if you do.

Turn Off Your Dishwasher Drying Cycle
Turn off the dish drying function of your dishwasher cycle and boost your savings account by letting your dishes dry naturally.

Never Run A Partial Dishwasher Load
If you have a full load then your dishwasher is more water and energy efficient, but if not, wash the few plates or mugs by hand.

Using Local Area Task Lighting
Table lamps will light just the space you are using, making them a much more efficient option than turning on all the numerous and larger overhead lights.

Use Energy Saving Bulbs Or Better Yet Turn Them Off
Turn Off Unused Lights Did Mom or Dad always remind you to turn off lights? It seems to be a habit  that is hard to remember.  It is one which can save you a fortune. Turing off the lights when you leave a room and when you go out makes financial sense, and should appeal to your common sense as well. Compared to general-service incandescent lamps giving the same amount of visible light, CFLs use one-fifth to one-third the electric power, and last eight to fifteen times longer.
