Arizona Places: Hannagan’s Meadow Lodge

Located on the Coronado Trail Scenic Byway, Hannagan’s Meadow is in the White Mountains and part of Arizona’s Blue Range Primitive Area. The famous Hannagan Meadow Lodge, built in 1926, is a great place to stay if you are visiting in late spring or summer. The area offers hiking, fishing, climbing, biking and horseback riding, as well as lovely 80 degree temperatures in the summer months.

More than just an escape from civilization Hannagan Meadow Lodge is "like no other place on Earth!" A wonderfully unique historical property, it is secluded high in the Arizona White Mountains at 9100 feet elevation. Situated in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, the area offers acres of beautiful trees, hundreds of species of wildlife, and unbounded recreational activities in all four seasons. Chosen by National Geographic Adventure Magazine as one of the top five Back Country Lodges in the United States.

Since 1926, the Lodge has been located on the scenic Coronado Trail, in the wilderness of Arizona's Blue Range Primitive Area. Completely isolated yet readily accessible, the Lodge offers our guests quiet serenity and a peaceful getaway from the hustle of daily life.  Guests at the Lodge are quickly enchanted with our perfect mix of rustic surroundings and modern conveniences. Eight authentic log cabins offer families and groups private accommodations, each with fireplace or wood-burning stove, and kitchenette. Eight unique lodge rooms give a more refined comfort with beautiful antique furnishings and private baths. All lodging is very reasonably priced.

Guests and visitors can enjoy a warm fire and companionship in the Fireplace Sitting Room and Dining Room.

Their visitors are quickly enveloped in the three "s's" of Hannagan Meadow: wonderful sights, sounds and smells! Everything you see is a feast for your eyes, from the shimmering leaves of the aspen trees to the crystal-clear night view of millions of stars in the sky. The quiet of the area allows sounds you don't hear in everyday life, including the calls of native birds, bugling of elk and yelping of coyotes, and the rustling of the wind through the trees. And lastly, your deadened sense of smell will likely be reawakened by the fresh pines and clear mountain air. All in all, it's a feast for your senses when you visit Hannagan Meadow! Come visit and experience for yourself why former Arizona Governor Bruce Babbitt called Hannagan Meadow "the most beautiful place in the state!"
