Cool Places: Cactus Hobbies Slot Car Racing

As you know we write about places to visit for families.  Normally in the hot summer months we suggest places in the northern half of Arizona to help you cool off and during the winter we pick places from all over the state.  In some cases we chose indoor locations to cover local areas that are cool and don’t worry about inclement weather.

This week we are choosing a local venue that has great indoor fun. It is called Cactus Hobbies.

Cactus Hobbies is the leader for slot cars and slot car racing in Arizona. They feature slot car rentals with affordable family rates that will keep you entertained on an old fashioned buck. They have slot cars, slot car sets for take home use, slot car upgrades and accessories for 1/32, 1/24 and HO scale slot cars.  Come in for 1/32 and HO take home sets, perfect to keep the kids busy for hours! You want time to relax? Get a slot car track sitter. It's the latest thing in child entertainment!!

Plus, Cactus Hobbies features in-store slot car tracks for test and tune weekdays on the road course, drag strip and six lane oval, PLUS Sunday organized racing for road racing and drag racing. Friends and families gather for spirited competition with closely matched cars on a challenging track that is sure to grab every ones attention!

Have a Birthday coming up and don't know what to do?  Bring the whole lot to Cactus Hobbies and let them do it for you. They teach the drivers the fine points of slot car racing and turn them loose for some hot laps and organized heat races that are guaranteed to get them buzzing. They supply pizza for a mid-party break then return to the track(s) for racing! Cactus Hobbies features organized slot car racing every Saturday and Sunday. They run non-modified Flexi chassis with one of three sealed can type motors that cannot be modified in any way. They currently run LeMans Prototype bodies (LMP) with medium down force. They use the Champion tech tool (CH940) to measure rear axle width, ride height and rear wheel size (.765 minimum).
