Save Money on Your Energy Bill

Here in Arizona there are three important aspects in saving money on your electric bill in the spring, summer and early fall.

First, make sure that your air conditioning unit is in top-notch shape. At a minimum you need to have a tune-up and check of your system to make sure it is running at its best.  You want it to run efficiently. That will save you money.

Second, You want to make sure your filters are clean and during the warm months you want to keep the filters clean. That will help your AC unit keep your house cool with the least work.

Third, consider what is the maximum temperature that you are comfortable with. Don’t spend money when you don’t have to. A programmable thermostat can help by allowing the time of day to be a zone of comfort. When no one is home the inside temperature can rise a bit and save on cooling costs. The program of the thermostat can be begin to cool the house more when people are set to come home.

Fans can be set to move air and that increase in airflow can make you feel more comfortable. In general moving the air with the use of ceiling fans or others can make a feeling that is equivalent to having a two or three degree drop in temperature.  Being able to raise your base temperature that two or three degrees can save hundreds of dollars over a year’s cooling.
