How Is Your Heating System Doing

At forty-six degrees Fahrenheit this morning I’ll bet you used your heating system.  Some of you it may have been the first time this fall. How well did it work?  Did it smell funny? Do you see a film of dust on your furniture? Or the worst news would be that it did run at all.

The coldest weather of the season so far will extend from the Dakotas to Texas and the Interstate-95 corridor by the end of the week. The outbreak of arctic air will be long-lasting and may linger well past the middle of the month. The worst of the cold will be felt from Fargo, North Dakota, and Minneapolis to Chicago and St. Louis. Heating demands will jump and people will be reaching for winter coats before venturing outdoors.

I guess the better news is that we may see the Valley of the Sun touch seventy degrees this afternoon. Most of the folks in the rest of the country would love to see us be able to ship some warm their way.

Now is the time to use all the solar heat gain that you have been blocking all summer long.  You need to cover the windows on the north side of your home and let the sunshine in from your windows on the south side.

Remember to share photos of your afternoon barbeques (in a short sleeve shirt) with your friends and relatives in our colder climes.  It will help keep them warm while they are shoveling snow.  You know they will call during July and August and ask if you are stuck in the melting asphalt.
