With the Phoenix
Metro Area’s overnight lows in the high thirties and low forties most of us in
the Valley of the Sun are just too cold at that temperature to go without our
heating systems running. How is yours doing?
Is your house
comfortable? How often is your HVAC or
furnace running to keep you warm and toasty?
The National
Weather Service is predicting that much of the Midwest and Eastern seaboard
will be both cold and wet this week. The travel forecast doesn’t look great for
this big travel week. So be sure to
check with the airports and carriers to make sure your flights still will get
you there. You may even need to check
and make sure travel to and from the airport is still a possibility.
Travel trouble
is brewing for Thanksgiving. In something of a replay of last week's
spring-to-winter cold plunge, traffic-snarling snow and ice are in the forecast
from New England to Georgia for Wednesday — the busiest day of the holiday week
on the roads, on the rails and in the skies.
This weather may
cause a condition called Black Ice. Black
ice, sometimes called clear ice, refers to a thin coating of glazed ice on a
surface. While not truly black, it is virtually transparent, allowing black
asphalt roadways or the surface below to be seen through it, hence the term
"black ice". The typically low levels of noticeable ice pellets,
snow, or sleet surrounding black ice means that areas of the ice are often
practically invisible to drivers or persons stepping on it.
There is, thus,
a risk of skidding and subsequent accident due to the loss of traction. A
similar problem is encountered with diesel fuel spills on roads. Be careful
when driving in those kinds of conditions.
Here in the
Phoenix Metro Area we just don’t have to worry about that kind of weather
problems. We just need to make sure that
our furnace can take the chill off most nights and mornings. A few cold days
may even need a bit of heat.
If your furnace
needs a tune-up we look forward to being able to help you out with that. That
can make sure you will have your heat when you need it. Perhaps most important
is that your heating system isn’t wasting your money. After all APS and SRP doesn’t need to collect
any extra of your money.
