At Phoenix Sky Harbor International airport they have broken the all-time twenty-four hour record with 3.29 inches of rainfall so far and more rain is expected later today.
Other parts of the Valley of the Sun have received much more rainfall with Chandler leading the pack at 5.2 inches.
In some places the rainfall has brought their yearly total to above average in just two storms in the last few weeks. Folks all across the valley spent many hours watching the storm as it flooded the valley during the night and into the early morning hours.
The local Television stations have been hard pressed to keep up with the road and school closures, as well as reports of business and home damage as they come in from across the area. The TV news choppers were grounded by the storm until mid-morning. At 10:30 AM the Mayor of Phoenix has declared an Emergency.
