50 Below – Now You Know Why I Live In Arizona

Have you read that this current winter storm “Polar Vortex” is bringing temperatures to the upper Midwest that will dip to fifty degrees below zero (that is Fahrenheit).  Yes, that may well be with a wind chill factor figured in.  But any time you hear or read the term “below zero” you know it is cold, very cold.

Have seen the photos of cars frozen to the ground, highways clogged with stranded motorists, people wearing many layers of clothing or snow blowers and ice trucks try to stay ahead of the weather.  BRRRR – 

Now you know why I live in the Phoenix Metro area – you don’t have to shovel sunshine.

With daytime highs in the upper sixties it is a great time to live here.  However our night-time lows are still in the very low forties to the mid-thirties means you need a good heating system to stay comfortable.

More than just a good heating system you need one that is running correctly, efficiently to keep your power bills under control.  None of us want to donate money to APS, SRP or Southwest Gas.  “Waste Not Wont Not” is the old saying.

Our night-time lows won’t be anywhere near the 10 to 20 degrees much of the nation will see tonight you still need to add cozy warmth to your home so that getting up on Tuesday won’t mean freezing feet and seeing your breath indoors.  With many nights being No Burn Nights throwing a log on the fire (even if you have a fireplace) isn’t going to be an option.
