You know it is cold back east when the folks living in the southeastern states are thinking they need to move to the Arizona desert. Yup, fifteen degrees Fahrenheit in Atlanta is downright cold.
Reminds us of a week ago here in the Phoenix Metro area when were in the mid-twenties at night.
We have warmed up a bit here in the Valley of the Sun but we still have two to two and half months when it can be cold enough that we still need heat. How do you heat your home? Do you use a heat pump? Do you use a natural gas fired furnace? Are you in a more rural area and need to use Propane as your heating fuel? No matter what you use Aaron’s Mechanical Services to make sure your heating system can keep you warm and not break the bank doing it.
If you are looking at new construction or serious remodeling it is also a great time to consider installing a modern furnace or heating system.
The latest craze in the heating and air conditioning industry seems to be the new gas/electric hybrid heating and cooling systems. While the split system hybrid units are more fuel efficient than a hybrid gas pack, the split system won't fit in every situation. Split systems consist of a heat pump / air conditioner, that is married to a high efficient gas furnace. For those of you who have an attic, a crawl space, or an inside closet, this split unit combination is perfect, but in some homes, it simply won’t fit.
Finally a solution has arrived -- a hybrid gas/electric packaged unit that sits outside your home and serves as both an air conditioner and high efficient heating system.
The concept of using fossil fuels along with electricity to increase the efficiency of a heating system isn’t new, however, electronic technology and the high cost of fuel is now making hybrid gas-pacs affordable for the average homeowner.
Hybrid gas-pacs take advantage of both heat pump & gas technologies and automatically switches to the one most efficient for the outdoor temperature. When it is chilly (above 40ºF), the system operates off of electricity, providing the heat pump’s steady, mellow heat. But when it turns cold, the hybrid gas-pac automatically switches to its internal gas furnace and its warmer, toasty air. The result is the ultimate in comfort.
These new hybrid gas-pacs are environmentally friendly, using the new R-410 refrigerant that is not harmful to Earth’s ozone layer. Its scroll compressor is also quiet, using only two working parts instead of the sixteen parts used in older compressors. Even better, hybrid systems cost less to operate.
