January 2015 starts off with the National Weather Service predicting lows for the night of the first and second running below 30 degrees. 

A quick look in the record books shows the following information.

Phoenix Arizona’s lowest low in December was twenty-two degrees in 1900 and 1911.  Of course you might notice that happened more than one-hundred years ago.  Our current heat island effect may mean that will never happen again.

Phoenix Arizona’s lowest low in January was sixteen degrees in 1913.

Overall the average daytime high temperatures for both December and January is the mid sixties.
