If this is your first summer in the Phoenix Metro area this weekend’s storms could have been quite a surprise. With the dust storms, the hail, heavy rains and very high winds may have been a very big wake-up call.
Depending on where you live you had all or just part of the storm events in your neighborhood. Damaging winds pushed over trees and power polls in some areas. That takes very powerful winds to do that type of damage.
Have you inspected the case or shell surrounding your air conditioner? That is something you should do or have it looked at by a service tech. Don’t go climbing on your roof. Every year many people are injured falling from their roof or just trying to climb up (or down) the ladder.
Even if your AC unit is running fine now, it could have debris inside the case or damage caused by impacts to the fins or components behind the area of the case with the “dent”. Getting your AC Repaired before the weather damage can lead to more problems is the most cost effective way to go.
If your home got hit with just the dust storm you will want to replace your ac’s filters even if they are not scheduled for the change out. Even partially clogged filters will make your air conditioner work harder and end up costing you more money.
Did You Know?
25,000 (combined APS – SRP) homes and business were with our power following the storm.
The National Weather Service, said a couple of microbursts probably occurred in the Valley of the Sun overnight, but the one in north Phoenix was the most severe.
An area around 40th Street and Greenway had trees and power lines blown down. Some of the trees uprooted in the area landed on vehicles and structures.
APS tweeted Sunday (07272014) that it would reimburse those left without power for a 40 pound bag of ice or a 20 pound bag of dry ice if a receipt was sent to the APS post office box, at APS PO Box 53999, Sta 3536, Phoenix, 85072.
A temporary ground stop order issued at 6 p.m. for Sky Harbor meant that no new flights would be routed in from other airports until the ground stop was cleared. It affected departure times for flights heading to Phoenix and, because of connections here, delayed some outbound flights as well.
